The converter will not draw enough current when idle to be a concern during regular use, for long term storage you can remove the fuse.
The best option would be to wire a relay like the link I posted, that way you know power is off to lights and any other accessory when the key is OFF.

Hi, Sergio. Have a voltage reducer I "think" might be failing. It's apparently a 16V (hooked to 2 batteries) to 12V. Symptom is the lights "relay" click off then on intermittently - EVEN if the cart is standing still. Replaced the relay, same symptom. Disconnected 1 headlamp and seemed to improve. Wondering if I should get a 48V to 12V converter and if wiring would be the same. Is there a diagram for the complete light. 2003 CC DS IQ. Thanks! for your help!
