DS Possible winch Install
My in laws talked my wife into buying me a 2000lb 12volt winch for my golf cart. why I have no idea? Its a 1998 DS with a Alltrax controller and plumbquick motor I have yet to get stuck and don't plan on going anywhere that I need the winch. It might give it the "cool" factor lol
Is there a mount anyone makes for it or a bumper with a mount? any suggestions? does anyone have any pictures? I am guessing I will need a good voltage reducer to run it also. Thanks |

Re: DS Possible winch Install
Mount it on the rear, pull you out that direction, so you can head back the way you came
Good voltage reducer for sure Check max current draw Maybe a small , separate 12v battery just for it We'll need pictures |

You need an extra battery for the winch. Reducer will not run it.

Re: DS Possible winch Install
Definitely a separate 12V battery is needed for the winch.
For mounting, Jake's makes a brush guard for the DS with a winch mount. I'd do a search for it. I think there's a video on youtube of them hanging a DS from the ceiling by the brush guard to show how robust it is. |

Re: DS Possible winch Install
If you are going to mount it on the rear, just add a trailer hitch and use the winch mount for it....battery under rear seat...then for street use leave the winch, and the weight, at home..

Re: DS Possible winch Install
I connected my winch to two of my 8 volt batts. Its hardly used so I didn't worry about causing an imbalance on the pack.

Re: DS Possible winch Install
I installed a battery in the bagwell of my 96 Ds. I used the blue top battery and run the cable from the front to the back.

It is for "" emergency use "" to get you out of a bind prob not see much (if any) use The main point is "Trying to keep in laws & wife happy" A plugin hitch & alligator clip wires, take it for a ride a few times would keep the heat off you |
