Default Need some advice on an old Club Cart

A buddy of mine got a older club cart for free that's in really good shape but somebody took some of the electronics out of it. I'm not sure the year but I can find out tomorrow. It has a motor n it looks like most of the wiring is there but the batteries are missing and on 1 of the frame rails that runs side to side in the back (looks like right behind where the batteries would be on the bottom) it has a bunch of unhooked wires in a straight line like there was maybe a resistor board bolted to the frame rail or maybe a bunch of solenoids. I'm wondering if it would be easier to just upgrade it to newer electronics or would that be more work and money then it's worth? I will look at the tag tomorrow to figure out a year n take a few pics of under the seat to post to see what you guys recommend. By looking at some of the wire diagrams it looked like either a resistor board went in the place in talking about or a pack of solenoids. Thanks for any info

with out seeing it or anything... all i could say is the upgrade to new would be best

replacing the stock parts could cost as much as the upgrade

^Second that. Yes it sounds like it's an older "resistor" cart, but it would cost to recreate all those missing pieces. As CTD said the upgrade to a modern controller set up would be the far more practical way to go. Even if it stays 36 volts (to save the cost of an upgraded motor) it would still have better performance and run time than an old resistor system. BEST way to go would be to convert to 48 volt and be done with it, but it is a bit more of an investment. Search out some of the threads on controller conversions and 48 volt upgrades. Much information to be had.

36 volt series motors love 48 volts.

There should be a surgeon general's warning on this "pursuit" Very addictive upgrading these things. [You can do "this" for x amount of dollars but for a little more you can do this...] and so it starts!

The cart will be used at the race track for pulling a car and carting us around all day. I have some pics and also have 5 other golf carts that all have misc electronics, motors, and parts. 4 of them are ezgo's 1 is a Harley, and the 1 I'm going to fix up is a club cart. I found the resistors hidden under a metal bar but what the wires go to is gone. Let me see if I can post up the pics I took.
