Precedent Charging
Guys I checked my batteries today because the yellow light kept coming on and going off. 3 of the batteries were at 12.5 volts but 1 was at 10.5 volts. I am trying too see if it will charge up with my regular charger. Can I change just the 1 battery? The batteries are only 3 year old Trojans and have very light usage.

Re: Precedent Charging
Look for a good used battery of similar age if you can and change it out to buy you time till the others go bad.

Re: Precedent Charging
And if you have been keeping it plugged in all the time, that is strange to fail at 3 years old...

Re: Precedent Charging
Thanks for the reply. I charged the battery that was at 10.5 volts using my car charger and I have the cart charger plugged into it now hoping that it will equalize.

Re: Precedent Charging
The next question is. Why is that one battery out of balance. Do you run your 12v accessories off of one 12v battery. If you do you may want to get a 48v-12v reducer.

Re: Precedent Charging
I got the battery that was at 10.5 up to 13.2 and then charged the whole system. I am getting at least 13 volts to each battery and 53 volts across the whole system.

Re: Precedent Charging
Does 53 volts sound right? I keep reading that it should be over 60 volts fully charged?

Re: Precedent Charging
The charger puts out around 63v while charging,
53v is about right JUST AFTER you disconnect the charger from the cart, If you were to let it sit off of the charger for 12 hours, the voltage should drop to about 50.9v for a full charge. |

Re: Precedent Charging
Thanks for the quick reply. I thought 60 volts sounded like a lot for a 48 volt system.

Re: Precedent Charging
As WM6 noted, there has to be a reason that battery did not charge when the others did. I suspect a bad cable there so you need to pull, clean, inspect, and reinstall/tighten each one...
