Rear wheels locked up when driving?
1996 DS. Stock motor Just added SR48500 controller and 400 solenoid. I drove it around for 30 min and it was ok.
I was driving about 20 mph down hill and the rear wheels locked up and I skidded to a stop and it wouldn't roll. Removed the stock motor. I can easily spin the shaft. I jacked up the cart and the wheels spin freely. I reinstalled the motor, jacked it up, the wheels / motor spin by hand. Lowered it to the ground, I cant roll the cart? Motor wont run with the wheels on or off the ground. |

Re: Rear wheels locked up when driving?
Did You raise one or both wheels?
If you raised both wheels the motor does not need to rotate in order for the wheel to spin since the other wheel will spin in the opposite direction. Make sure you can spin a single raised wheel. |

Re: Rear wheels locked up when driving?
You are correct. Raised one wheel, will not spin.

Re: Rear wheels locked up when driving?
I am surprised you said the motor shaft rotated freely, You may need to repeat the one raised wheel test with the Motor removed.
if the wheel still does not rotate, something broke inside the differential. If the single raised wheel rotates with the motor removed, it may be the bearing on the end of the motor getting jammed when the motor shaft is mounted/pressed against the differential. |

Re: Rear wheels locked up when driving?
Motor removed. One wheel off the ground. Wheel will not spin.
Both wheels off the ground. One wheel spins fwd, one reverse. Should the splined differential shaft be spinning when l spin the wheels? It is not |

Re: Rear wheels locked up when driving?
Im not understanding the "raise one wheel" test. How did the cart ever roll on all 4 wheels with the motor not even running?
With the motor removed now, it will not roll? |

Re: Rear wheels locked up when driving?
I just hooked up the motor unattached to the diff. It runs fwd & reverse.
I guess the rear diff went bad |
