Here's the big question: how the hell do you get to it without removing the front cowl? I want to quiet mine down a little, but my key pannel is connected with some kind of little plastic rivets that don't look removable.

Those rivits are removable, you just have to replace them with new ones after removal, or you can reach in from under the front cowl and use the "feel for it" method.....
