Default Knocking sound at rear end

I have a 1995 ds, when driving I get a knocking sound from the rear end. I was thinking it might be a bearing. Does anybody have any ideas what it might be. Can you get the bearing off without a press.

Some questions come to mind. Is the knock:
  • Continuous or can you make it happen?
  • Something that happens at set interval , i.e., once per rotation?
  • When cornering?

In my limited experience I have had two situations which caused what I would describe as a knock:
  1. Lugs had loosened
  2. Leaf spring bushing issue

my 99 DS had a weird knock in the rear end. I fixed it with cc part #AM 10039 "motor centering kit". Noise stopped as soon as I installed it and havent heard it since. As a note, I heard to NOT install the little rubber bumper that comes with it, so I didnt. I didnt install the bearing that comes with it either. Hope this helps
