Default Why no field winding bolts?

I pretty much finished installing a speedometer/voltmeter onto my cart. One of the last things is to hook up the motor temp gauge.

My meter isn't an Alltrax Ex-Ray, but appears to be the same meter, only sold by another company (Trail-Tech).

Using the Alltrax instructions, I'm supposed to remove the field winding bolt, slip the copper ringed thermocouple in there, and reinstall the bolt.

Unfortunately, there don't appear to be any field winding bolts on my motor! Mine is the Club Car 3.75 HP motor.

Does anyone know why we don't have these bolts?

The instructions give an alternative, to surface mount a thermocouple. But that seems to be a poor substitute for a thermocouple bolted direct to the windings...

Here is a pic of the field winding bolts on an EZGO:

S1 & S2 are the field windings.

Are you saying you don't have bolt terminals, as in, you do have spade connections?

Sounds like you will have to get creative. Maybe make up a tandem spade connector to share your motor post with the F wire spade and then put a spade on your thermocouple wire so it plugs on? I'm just thinking out loud? > or solder it to your existing connector ? hmmmm......

Thanks for the replies.

No, I have the A1, A2, S1, S2 lugs, like the motor pictured. What I don't have is those 2 "Motor Field Coil Bolt", as described in the Alltrax instructions, as shown below.

So, do you think I should slip the copper washer/thermocouple under the S1 or S2 lug? Or should I lay the thermocouple on the motor case, and cover it in insulating tape, like Option 2 suggests?

Save yourself some trouble. Leave those bolts alone and stick it on the case. It will probly be more accurate there anyways verses the feild coil or armature bolts. Heck, what would be the difference if you tack welded a bolt to the case?

I added this to my motor case, receiver is going to be mounted in the dash; currently the receiver is foam mounted inside the cup holder for I haven't made up my mind whether to upgrade receivers to a smaller unit. Works like a charm and I know exactly what my case temp is, I stopped playing with RC’s long ago, glad I kept a few left over parts to incorporate to my LSV.

My motor does not have Motor Field Coil Bolts...

Hence the question...

Hence the title: "Why no field winding bolts?"

S1 & S2 are the field coil bolts. The 2 big bolts in the middle of the motor would be better described as "stator bolts" or something like that.

I would connect to S1 or S2...
