Do I need. Ew battery's
Well I have a 91 ez-go marathon controler cart and have tested the throttle pox box, controller, motor and solonid. Everything checks good, the hightest voltage my total charge 3 charger will get the pack to after chargeing and letting set foe 12 hours is 37.5 or so. Each battery by its self reads around 6.22-6.26, when back end is jacked up, put in forward, and throttle is pressed all the way the voltage stopes to around 36.2 or so the goes back up to around 36.9-37.2 when throttle is released. Is there any way to bring battery's back like running them down all the way then chargeing? Battery's are dated 6-11, alought I know that doesn't mean much. Thanks for the help.

Re: Do I need. Ew battery's
Check each battery electrolyte level. If low, fill with distilled water just to cover plates then top off after completing a charging cycle.
Monitor pack voltage during a charging cycle and note the highest voltage the pack gets towards the end of the charging cycle. Check pack voltage again. If you see an increase in pack voltage vs what you reported, you may be able to continue cycling the pack and get them back. FLA's do not have a "memory" and deep discharging is unhealthy for them. |

It is NOT good to do this, , never run a motor like that with out a load on it

Re: Do I need. Ew battery's
As previously mentioned:
Do Not run an unloaded motor at full throttle. Do Not discharge batteries below 50% - Ever. Sounds like your batteries might only be about a year old, but sat for a while in a partially discharged state and are now permanently damaged. According to the voltage, they are only charging to about 80% of their capacity, but you might get that up to 90% or more by slightly discharging and recharging repeatedly. It took several months, but I recovered some storage capacity on the abused batteries that were in my cart when I got it. I recharged the batteries every time I moved the cart and often re-initiated a charge cycle without moving cart. I still keep my batteries fully charged as much as possible and have managed to get another year's life out of them. Good luck..... |

Re: Do I need. Ew battery's
A 6A charge rate is little more than trickle charge for a 225AH battery and not enough to recover any storage capacity.
Of course, it is fine for getting battery voltages up enough to turn on a 36V charger and/or equalizing the batteries in a pack. Personally, I'd use it to get all six batteries up to the same voltage (+/- 0.05V if possible) and then charge them with your TC III repeatedly ( 2-4 times a day) while working on the rest of the cart. BTW: Your TC III is a good charger. Built like a tank and 100% repairable. |
