Default EZGO TXT electric golfcart stopped moving suddenly

My daughter got on the golf cart (EZGO TXT 1999 electric motor) and pressed the "gas"...it made a wierd jerk and thump then quit working. The solenoid is clicking, backup buzzer works, all batteries checked and fully charged. We checked the switches, which appear to be ok. My hubby checked the solenoid the redneck way - with two screw drivers and it sparked fire. Is there a reset button on the motor? What else could it be? Any help would be great. We're new to the golfcart world (3 months).

Is the motor turning? If so its probably your brake hubs. to check remove hub caps or anything else that covers the castle nut on the rear axle. Press the gas and see if the castle Nut is turning. If so you need new brake hubs.

The Alex shafts are splined to the brake hub and that is what makes the cart move. This is a common item to fail.

If motor is not turning then post full battery voltage. Also look athe the trouble shooting in the stickies on top of this forum.

Good luck

If my golfcart moves easily when pushed, are the brake hubs ok?

The problem I discribed has nothing to do with the brakes other than the brake drum is the part that connects to the axle shaft to make the wheels turn.

Make sure all your cables are tight on your batteries.
