Unhappy Ez-go Medalist Slippping

I am new to all this so please bare with me. I have fixed the wiring that another mechanic screwed up on my 1995 ez-go medalist. The problem now is that when we went to load it up on the trailer it got half way up on the trailer and then it sounded like the motor was just slipping. What do I need to look for now to make sure that this cart will not fail at the Golf Course. The battery pack is at 36 volts. Everything has been cleaned and new wires have been installed. All voltage drops are within spec and controller is working properly.

Sounds to me like you may have a brake hub that is slipping which is commonly confused with the motor slipping. This is very common as these hubs are designed to spin out to prevent rear axle and gears from being damaged under a heavy load....sounds like a loud roar coming from back of cart. Usually you can put your hand on tire and feel which side this is coming from. Not a sure thing but def something to check for before pulling motor.

I think that you were probably correct with the 50% battery charge. I charged them last night and the cart jumped up on the trailer. I just thought that the 36V was enough when the charger was right at the red zone. yet I would not think that the cart would make that slipping sound. It sounded like a grinding sound when it was slipping and the cart was not moving. is that normal?

I suspect you might want to rethink how often you charge your batteries.

For maximum life expectancy, keep them as fully charged as possible or practical.

Here's a chart showing State of Charge versus Voltage and average SoC vs life expectancy.
Note: Voltage readings are taken 12 hours after charger shuts off automatically.
