Default Battery hold downs absent

When i bought this 2000 Club Car Ds series cart earlier this year someone in its past had put 4-12 volts in it that needed replacement now. And they just were sitting unlevel in battery trays. Just yesterday i blew my wad and dropped 6 fresh 8 volts in. However, there are no battery hold downs at all. I am concerned due to the batteries having a little extra room that shifting may cause some damage. Whats the best /most economical option i have to secure them? In some pics on this site i have seen vertical threaded bolts sandwiched in between two batteries to hold them down. Is this sufficient? Moderatly rough trails and hills on my property here in Michigan make me think i may need a little more than that. Thanks in advance for any info. Mike from MI.

OEM hold downs work good so long as the trays are in good condition.

Should be freely available from any Club Car agent or one of the site sponsors the hold-downs are part# 101090801 and the J-bolts part #1013683
You need 3 hold-downs and 6 J-bolts. J-bolts should also be available at auto spares outlets.
You are doing good securing the batteries as vibration and bouncing around does no good at all.

If your battery trays are in poor condition to accept the standard hold down setup, you might want to look into ratcheting straps to secure the battery pack. There are many sizes and styles available. There are even straps available that are corrosion resistant that would work well in battery compartments. Google it!

Dependiing on your cart and your battery orientation, you could either ratchet 2 batteries at a time around them and the bottom of the frame, or ratchet the entire pack that way.

Didn't think of that, my batteries have individual caps, not the long cap style. However, with a quick release ratchet, it still only takes a few seconds to remove.

The other option is to make your own hold downs out of metal stock. If you do a search on this, you'll find several pictures from members that have done this.
