quick report on newer batteries and new heavier wires
the cart ran GREAT!!!!!! we have a somewhat steep driveway, about 150 yards long its gravel road and usually even when the cart was newer, it would slow down- well guys, with your help not anymore- kept even speed up the drive ways and then down the road and then back up the real steep hill on the road
and there was no burning smell, that has been there the last couple years I took a nice spin around the property without incidence. Then Cindy took the cart out and she asked "is the cart faster?" IT COULD BE our imagination? thanks again |

If it is a PDS cart with a stock PDS controller, it probable didn't gain any speed on level ground. If it is a series cart and the cables were really bad, you might have. Volts = Speed and if the cable were getting hot enough to smell, you were loosing some voltage across the hot cables instead of applying it to the motor. Glad to hear it is running better. |

Re: quick report on newer batteries and new heavier wires
My cart has decent speed on short trips but on longer trips to the beer store it seems to slow down a bit.
Would a larger gauge wire help this? 1998 EZGO 36v new batteries & cables. I think its a PDS ?? tow switch on top of controller cover. |

If it has a metal body, it's probably a '98 Medalist DCS If it has a plastic body, it's probably a '98 TXT DCS. You mentioned new batteries and new cables. What AH batteries, what gauge cables and were all 10 of them replaced? Have you ever actually measured the speed to see if there is any difference? |

Any how, I felt the same way, after a while the cart seemed to be slower, but the wife assured me I was traveling just shy of 20MPH the entire time. I now have 20" tires on the cart and will make the trip again this weekend to see if the same holds true. |

Re: quick report on newer batteries and new heavier wires
You probably could have saved yourself a lot of time by simply buying one of JohnnieB's aluminum helmut's!!! You could try to make one.....but it just isn't the same. JohnnieB sprinkle's his with a magic formula of old battery water mixed with secret stuff and then I've heard he sticks his tongue on battery post. (But what we are not sure of is...are the batteries charged.....or old dead ones???)
JohnnieB doesn't tell!! |
