those a/c units actually work really well. I have family out in palm springs where there are tons of carts and most of them have the little a/c units on the roof. You have to add a gallon or so of water to the tank on the roof and it will blow air like 20 degrees colder than the temperature outside. nice option but when i spoke to a few dealers out there they say the units are not good in humid climates.

Swamp cooler. They are popular among vintage VW folks. There are even large versions made for buildings that are popular in the southwest. If you see pics of old VWs with something that resembles a small jet engine attached to the passenger window, it's the same thing.
