Well, I didn't build mine, from scratch anyway. It was a science kit bought years ago. Now safely tucked away somewhere I'll probably never see again.

I've also seen ones that allow a car to be lifted high enough to not only work on them, but you can park another car under it, assuming your garage is high enough.

A lot of companies offer "Parking-Lifts",they are a 4-post lift like a shop uses,but light-duty,just meant for light work,like a home-mechanic,and you can leave it stored in the raised-position to park another car under it.
