There's your problem. You're using ruining lights, and they're ruining your installation.

it tells you that the running lights are wired into the turn signal lights in the rear area
quick fix ... run a wire from rear running lights to head light switch

no dice. I hooked the tail lights directly to the pull switch and I get the same thing no blinky with lights on. What might that mean sockets are bleeding power or bulbs are screwy or bad grounds?

at this point i have no idea .. you said you had them dim and bright before ..if you rewired them then they should work
