Looking at a project cart. Need some insight.
I found what appears to be a post '96 TXT. I'm assuming it was only available as a 36v. But I'm new, so I have no idea.
Th owner says he has had it for 8 years and the batteries took a dump last fall blah blah blah.. My questions are these: Since it needs batteries already, and I'm looking to upgrade whatever cart I get, would it be smart to replace the current 6v batteries with 8v, with the idea of upgrading to 48v fairly soon (this winter)? Does that affect what charger I use? It apparently comes with one, but I have no idea if it works or what else might be wrong with it or the cart. I have read on this board that a different controller is required to make said upgrade, aside from new heavier gauge cables, what else needs replaced? I see cheap lift kits on eBay. Are they crap? If the motor is shot, what would I be looking at to upgrade it, without getting crazy? This is a "budget build". My 1st cart. So, if it is only the batteries, and a set of seat covers, I'll only have about $900 into it, which around here is hard to find a good runner for less than 2k. |

A 36 volt charger won't work for 48 volts. Neither will most solenoids or controllers. To answer more, you need to know what you're dealing with.

So, what kind of speeds can I expect out of a 36v system, if I keep it mostly stock?

Ok. Without going to a 48v system, what are the common upgrades to squeeze some more speed out of it?

There are only a few ways to make a series cart faster.
1- Move voltage 2- Larger tires 3- Upgraded motor 4- Gear change |

first thing I'd do is replace the primary cables to 2 gauge, that got me 16 mph in my stock cart
