replaced belt, now cable gets hot, wont start
Hello again. My carry all has been good since last time you guys helped me. My starter belt snapped and I replaced it. Now the starter wont turn over. I thought the battery was dead but it is only a few months old and putting a charger on it did no good. I felt the blue ground wire that goes from the selinoid to the starter and it was very hot. I got my brother to test the wires with his meter and all were good but that on was 7 amp istead of 12 or whatever. I dont understand all this electonic stuff. He said I have a ground problem . What do you think?

can you look and see if the starter pulley is spinning but the belt is just sitting there..................take a look at the pulley while you try and start it and if it is doing that you just need to tighten the belt........they need to be really really tight..................................

No offense Tom...
But when I REALLY tightened my S/G belt, it wouldn't turn over, and blew the fuse... twice! I'm thinkin' the belt is TOO tight! But... I've been wrong before! |

Re: replaced belt, now cable gets hot, wont start
A belt that's too tight and an over-sized fuse would cause that cable to get hot!
Anything could be possible! that's what's great about these forums, we read and learn of all sorts of "fixes"! You work on more carts then I do... and for that, I to you! (well... maybe... maybe not!) uh... Tom? It's like 90 out... shouldn't that snow be gone by now? |

Re: replaced belt, now cable gets hot, wont start
I tightened the pulley/belt. I discovered the wire was frayed and burnt on the starter end and I cut the end off and replaced a new end. I also had a leaking carb and read a few threads about carbs and decided to go on ebay to buy a new carb and a tune up kit. I found a guy selling new carb for 98.00 and tune up kit with plug, fuel filters(2), oil filter and air filter for 21.00. all free shipping. I just put it all on and now my cart runs smooth as a baby"s butt. Thank you Buggies Gone Wild!!!!!!
