1997 CC Gas wearing brushes unevenly
About a month ago I replaced the brushes and bearings of the SG and have run the cart for about 5 hours. Recently it has become hard to start. The selenoid clicks fine and I am getting 12 volts to the SG. So I removed the SG and found that 2 brushes are worn out, and the other two look brand new. The two worn ones are next to each other on the front and bottom of the SG. Anyone have any idea why brushes would wear unevenly and so quickly?

I polished the commutator with a scotch brite, but did not turn it on a lathe. Does skim mean turn on a lathe to make sure it is perfectly round?
Where did you buy the brushes that were good ones? Thanks, Jim |

I use this company. Great service and very reasonable pricing but the online catalog is a bit of a pain to navigate. Part No is 49-9020 http://www.electricmotorsvc.com/pdf/EMS-smallengine.pd Hope that helps Chris. |
