Yamaha YDRE brakes not working at all
My dad just bought a Yamaha Drive electric(2010) cart for a good price. The cart runs and drives great but the brakes don’t work at all. The cable is fine and it moves the thing on the side of the transaxle housing.
The pedal just does straight to the floor, and the brakes don’t do anything. Who’s actually fixed this? (I AM aware that they are internal wet brakes, and are hard to service, but I don’t know how, even if it is hard. Thanks!) Luke Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |

Try adjusting the cable.

Re: Yamaha YDRE brakes not working at all
The cable must be adjusted first, but if "full adjust" gets you nothing, the axle gets disassembled (splits in half), gears removed, brake retaining plate removal (the "hit the back with a hammer" type of impact driver is your friend with those bolts), remove brake discs (while carefully maintaining their correct order). Reassembly is after that. I can't remember a situation where that pedal could not be adjusted to get some "stopping point" before it hit the floor, just won't get any braking action when the discs worn out (requires tons of force to get stopped).

This is beyond adjusting the cable. We have the transaxle out now. About to split it.

Axle is split. Not sure how to remove the big gear to get to the brake discs.

Re: Yamaha YDRE brakes not working at all
How do I get these tight hex head bolts out without destroying them? They are very tight. I’ve tried the cordless impact wrench already.

Got the brakes out and I don’t see any wear. What’s going on here?
