How difficult is it to change out the resistor setup?

Is there a good reference guide for understanding the basics of these motor setups so I dont have to keep bugging you with questions?

Again, I am a complete novice for this, but have a passion to learn.

Lookup the G1e service manual for the basics. And yes, switching over to a motor controller is not super hard and actually simplifies the wiring some.

Ask any questions. That’s what this forum is for. Scotty sells a conversion kit at cartsunlimited.net. That’s an easy way to do it. There is more involved with this cart though, since there’s no FNR switch. Also, the ignition key switch and the controller key switch will be different.

I added an FNR to mine.

Other than the initial test drive, I finally got a chance to cruise around on the sun classic this weekend.

We got so many looks and comments from people wondering what it was.

I am in Minnesota and our seasonal campground closes at the end of the month. I plan to bring it home for the winter and do some work, but for the next 3 weeks I am looking forward to putting in some time behind the wheel.

One thing I noticed is that having someone (One of the kids) on the back, it will bottom out going over small bumps. If I plan to spend the time and money adding the rear seat, I will have to try and get that fixed first. Not sure if its as easy as adding some bigger springs or maybe a slight lift, but I am open to suggestions from you guys.

I know what it’s like- I get constant questions about mine too [emoji16]

Not sure you’ll find a lift for it (unless you are a good fabricator.)

Mine doesn’t rub, even with weight on the back. What’s rubbing, the tires on the wheel wells?

No rubbing, but more like a thump. My brother is a welder by trade so he may be able to help fabricate something.

Hey Luke, what did you mean when you said "the ignition key switch and the controller key switch will be different"?

LukeL is our resident expert on these. He probably won't be back until tomorrow. I don't have one of these but I assume he means FNR are controlled by the key or similar switch and he changed that.

Look at the top right of the photo above. I believe that is a rotational FNR switch.

I wired mine like a standard series cart. You can see the rotary FNR in the picture. Under the little ashtray. My factory keyswitch controls all the 12v accessories but it does not control the Alltrax KSI signal. It’s sort of difficult because they keyswitch is in a 12v circuit. I suppose I’d have to add a relay of some sort to it but I haven’t yet done it.

If anyone has ideas I’m open to suggestions[emoji16]
