Default Cart runs but shutters

I mainly work on club cars and ezgos but had a Yamaha come in. It will runs somewhat but it surges and shakes when depressing the pedal. It seems to go better in revere but still surges. It’s a 2008 48 volt with new batteries

Sounds like a power supply problem

I would pull that motor and check it out. If the motor is the problem, and is ignored, it will soon be irreparable. (By irreparable, I mean not cost effective to repair).

Do they have an mcor or speed sensor like club cars and ezgos or a throttle sensor of some kind?

0-5v throttle, but your readings will likely be "0.4v to 4.7v throttle", that's ok. Throttle sensor failure on YDRE is incredibly uncommon, I have replaced probably 5 since 2007.

Sounds like something I just went through with a 2013 Drive - Motor was bad - instead of rebuilding or replacing with stock I upgraded to Riot Kit - when I pulled the original Hitachi motor, sure enough it was burned up

Had a similar issue turned out to be worn and/or stuck brushes in motor. Check and see if any of the terminal connections on the motor are getting very hot.
