1991 G2 Build Up
I figured I might as well start a build up thread. The more I dig, the more that needs to be rebuilt.
So far all I have is a G14 engine to put into the cart. I would like to add a lift and tires soon. I will paint when all the mechanical and service work are complete. It will probably be tan with black accents. While waiting to get parts to finish the engine, I decided to take the body off and clean everything up. Everything looked good until I took the front clip off. Both sides have rusted through. I guess it is better to find it now. I am open to ideas if anyone has an easy fix. If you look closely in one of the pictures, you can see a rat's or bird nest. I will keep updating this thread with pictures and updates. Thanks, Chad |

Well I don't know of an easy fix for that other than fabbing some new pieces and welding them in. Good luck we will be watching.

Welcome Elrojo, You got your work cut out ahead of you but it can be done.
Any chance you have a Yamaha dealer around you? Might be an old frame out back you could just graft in. Keep us posted on your progress. |

Is the rear of the frame as bad? If so a donar frame, if not maybe a clip off an atv?

Re: 1991 G2 Build Up
There is no rust anywhere else on the cart. That is why I was shocked when I found this. I will try to post some more pictures tomorrow. I spent some time cleaning and painting this morning. At least that part of the frame is not seen. I will weld some brackets and supports and call it good.
I have to keep reminding myself that this cart is to be a user, not a show piece. |

Re: 1991 G2 Build Up
Here is where I am at. The mailman brought my new rotor today. It is the one in the middle. The one on the left is off a G14. The one on the right is the one that came off the old G2 that I broke. The middle and right one have the same #'s, but have a different configuration. Does that matter?
I hope the picture is clear enough to see what I am saying. I am going to try and get it going today or tomorrow. |

It's on there. The only difference I could see were the dots on the outside edge. I have seen three of these in my life. I wasn't sure if those dots made a difference or not. I am one fuel line away from trying to fire it up. Do I need to replace the line with OEM or can I use any fuel line from the parts store? I need the line from the fuel pump to the Carb. Which line do most people add the inline fuel filter to? The one that connects to the tank? I will take updated pictures in the morning. I was too busy trying to get the engine back in and then it was too dark. Last edited by ElRojo; 11-03-2009 at 07:14 PM.. Reason: Forgot to thank Dave for all the help. |
