Is the piston still going up and down? Pull the plug and put your thumb over the spark plug hole and feel is there is any air movement. Did you hear a 'bang"?? Any Smoke at the point of death? Scotty's the flat head man, so listen to what he says very closely

I'm wondering if the piston may have burnt a hole in the top? Could be as easy as a stuck open valve

there was no bang nor smoke... I've blown up many motors in my day when I lived near the Oregon coast & rode 2strokes This was a completely different thing.. cart took off as normal... hesitated then turned off as if my foot was on the brake.... I will go outside right now & see if there is any movement with the plug out... cart is still sitting on the trailer

Pulled plug & there seems to still be alot of pressure coming from the piston

We'll be here! I've got to think that if the fuel pump is pumping, that you have some sort of compression on the botton side (crank case pressure). Not saying the compression is perfect, but there's gotta be some to make the fuel pump work. Scotty - you agree?

I pulled the seat off & pressed on the gas pedal with the cart still tied up... carb was a little loose ?? so i will tighten it up... but the larger belt (clutch..?) is not engaging any thoughts....?

Carb loose = BAD
Not understanding about the clutch not engaging? You mean not turning? Not closing? Did the engine fire?

You know, I forgot to mention to check the carb butterfly, They sometimescome apart, too...

I'm still more curious about the compression and valves, but the carb has to be tightened ASAP

Loose carb will do it every time Take it off the trailer or jack up the rear wheels off of the ground..... for safety
I think that cart has en electric fuel pump near the gas tank?
