I would seal the air box first and foremost.

it needs the choke becuse you have increased the air flow in and out of the motor, therefore leaning the mixture. you need to re jet the carb to compensate and for the engine to run right.

Do like Dooms suggests and seal the air box. If the little rubber straps are broke you can run a tiedown over it. That's the way I have mine.

Those Yami's will not run right until you have the air box sealed tight!!

Thanks for all the help. I don`t understand why yall say it won`t run right without the airbox sealed when some are running k&n and uni without a box. I guess my question should have been , will richening up the main jet help it start without the choke ?

When running the K & N they have rejeted the carb for that K&N filter

When running the jet in your carb it won't run right without the airbox sealed or the choke on --

I can be jetted to run with a leady air box,but it is not healthy for the motor in the long run. You need to do it right the first time, and go about it in the proper mannor or it will always give you trouble.Good luck Mike
