G16 Speaker Solution, Cheap and Easy
Ok Guys.... I have thought and thought on how to come up with a simple cheap way to add rear speakers to my cart. SO HERE WE GO...
I took two paint cans and painted them with black textured paint 21" piece of 1x1 box steel, painted gloss black super thick bungee from WalMart, cut and screwed into box steel 2.5" stainless 1/4-20 bolts, to attach everything to seat supports. Thoughts??? |

Re: G16 Speaker Solution, Cheap and Easy
The speakers I used are the Polk DB 6.5 full-range. These are not sold as marine speakers BUT on Polks website they are in fact Marine certified and water resistant.
The 6.5s fit like a glove into the paint can. I couldn't believe it! I had tried using PVC pipe and other tubes but nothing was easy until I was painting for the wifey one day and thought, ummmmm, looks about right and sure enough they were perfect! The speaker grills fit perfectly over the speaker and over the lip of the can. couldn't have fit any better. If you do not have any old paint cans you can purchase new empties at Lowes for 5 bucks. I found that asking at the local paint store gets you a couple free ones.. |

Looks like a good idea, but where did you mount your radio?
Car looks very good. Mike |

terrible without the stuffing. Once I put the poly fill in the can it sounds good.

Any rattling? That is a good idea and I might be using it myself in the future.
