Default Runs good for a while...

Hi all. Great site. Usually I can find what I need without posting... I've got a G14a that runs like a champ when I first get it going but then gets a little boggy. When I'm driving it its fine because when it starts doing it I just nut it and it will go away. Last nite my son took it and stalled out in the campground and I towed it back. I'm getting plenty of gas @ the carb when this happens. The next day everything is back to normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Are the cooling fins clogged with dirt? Could be the ignitor try to swap with a known one before you buy one they are pricey. Ignitor is basically a CDI on these and has a timing advance curve in it.

Another thing I've seen cause this is a bad plug, idle mix being off, airbox not together right...or those causing the plug to foul. The fouled plug looked just fine. Mine G9 did this when I hogged my airbox it would run and quit until I got it jetted right.

plug looked okay. black sooty but not wet at all. I'll check the cooling fins out as it is pretty dusty here. Then I'll check the ignitor as I try to "keep it simple." The thing I did notice was the very tip of the spark plug was loose. Not sure if this would interupt my spark once in a while. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll let you know how I make out.
Once again thanks for your time.

Black and sooty could be a little bit of junk in the inlet
needle seat causing it to run rich.

When you say very tip was loose...which end, the wire side or engine side? Wire side will probly be the little screw on tit some plugs have. Thats normal, just tighten it up. If something was loose electrode side you need a new plug. Make sure its the right one too.

Wire side was loose. I'll try a new plug and clean things up in the engine compartment a little. My Dad always said "Keep it simple stupid." I kinda have to as I'm on vacation and have company showing up off and on all week so as much as I'd like to I can't really tear into this as well as I probably could. Thanks again for all you guys helping me out.
Thanks for your time.

Took the time and cleaned engine compartment and engine. Cleaned cooling fins. Took carb off and cleaned as best as I could with carb cleaner. Took the bowl off and I've seen worse. So that wasn't too bad. Put a brand new plug in and she's good to go. Runs great.
Glad to know there's people out there on forums like these that will help out this way.
Thanks guys for your time.
