golf ball in gas tank
ok, I had my gas tank out of my g16 because I was painting the frame. I decided to clean the outside of the tank before i put it back in. I looked inside the tank when I realized there was a golf ball in it. No problem right? WRONG! I can not get it out. After being in the tank, the ball must have gotten bigger because it will not fit through the fill hole. Any ideas? I am afraid I am going to have to cut a hole in the top, but I dont know how to get it sealed back up properly if I do that. Or, should I just leave it?

If it's not hurting anything, just leave it. You may have to get it out though because if it degrades and gets in the gas, it could be bye-bye-carburetor!

That was a special model that came with balls in the tank. LOL! Just kidding....I think your just stuck with it. I wouldn't cut a hole in the tank because you may not ever it to seal right. If the ball has been in there this long it's not gonna hurt anything now.

That is a very interesting problem...I doubt it would hurt anything. Unless it could slowly dissolve or somehow block the flow of fuel. I dont think it would hurt anything to cut it open at the top and re-seal it. If its at the top you shouldn't have to worry about it leaking as it would only get splashed.

Thats what I am afraid of. I think over time the gas will start to break down the golf ball. The filter shoud catch any particles right?

Man, that's a good one. I can't think of a way to get it out, you have got to
get a hold of it. I don't know, maybe leave it in there. |

I would say it needs to be about 1/4 -3/8 inch smaller.
