Default Wheels & Tres for G1

Got the G1 running mint, time to lift it !! I'm going to use the lift kit plans I found on here - I measured the whells and came up with 4 x 4" bolt pattern. Couldn't find anything that size in the ATV listings ?? What are you guys using on you G1s ??

All golf carts generally use the same wheels 4 bolt, 4", centered (0 offset).
Ezgo and CC use SAE nuts and Yamaha uses Metric.

Where are the lift kit plans? I'd like to check them out.

I have a 1985 G1. I just lifted mine last week and I used jake's six inch lift kit. Easy to put on. My tire size is 20 x 10 x 10.

Here are the basic plans. I found them somewhere on this site or possibly the BU site. You may need to tweak the dimensions slightly to fit your buggy, and modify your spindles and upper shock mounts. The middle images show how I did it. Do not use the rear shock extension plans, the dimensions are off. Build extensions like the ones in the last image- much simpler. Thank you to newbylee for that design. Another option for the rear is to go on ebay and get a set of front shocks for a Honda 400EX. They are about 16" long and should bolt right up to give you 4" of lift.

Hey GMB74 - what size tires did you go with ? I'm thinking 22x11-10 on the back and 22x8-10 on the front ?

The largest tire you can use on a G1 with a 4" lift is 20". You can lift the body 4" without modifying the frame for clutch clearance. To go larger you must lift the body more, like 6" and cut the frame for the clutch to clear. Do a search, there are several threads with pix on how members have done this.

Looks like rib33024 beat me to the frame mod link. If you have the later gold-colored clutch, you have to get even more radical with the frame mods.

Thanks for the info guys ! 4" seems like lots of lift as long as I can find some tires to fit under it !
