I noticed that also but really hoped it was just a cover.

Oh jezz, heck no! I guess its hard to tell from the picture, but it has the two bolts running through each set of plates that it piviots on its bushings. That steel is military grade diamond plate off of a 1965 10 ton tractor. There is NO flex or movement of that metal up there!

The one thing you guys have touched on, which I had not changed yet is the sway bar. I believe these need to be horizonal with the frame, but I had not lowered my bracket since the previous lift, and the bar is at quit a bit of angle. Maybe I'll fab a lower bracket and bring it horizonal, until I get my lift.

I think homemade lifts are fine for up to 4", but when you try to get 6 or 7 inches, it becomes a bad idea! Hey, you live and learn, right?

I've decided to bite the bullet and buy a Jakes or Allsport. I just have to somehow keep the wife from freaking out when I spend yet ANOTHER $350.00 on the golf cart! Now,,,,,,,,,,,,,which lift?? Hmmm....

The panhard bar (sway bar) is ok. It is suppose to be at a slight angle downward. It might be just a bit much, but I wouldn't change it if your getting a new lift. Mine is not really correct, but its a golf cart, so...

Yea, that is the panhard bar not a sway bar.
Because this model cart has one pivot point up front instead of two it requires the panhard bar to keep the swing arm centered in the frame.
The closer to horizontal the more the swing arm will cycle straight up and down but it is fine how it is.
It looks as if someone has put a drop down plate on it already.

The newer carts with 1 point cradles are tippy compared to the older 2pt. Another issue is any cart taller without widening the track is going to be less stable. I only lifted mine enough to clear the tires and that was it, but I ride trails and need to corner hard at times.

If you can fab this stuff, you might check some of the build threads on the 3 link rears, not that hard to do and get rid of the pahard bar. If shock tuning does not work you may need some kind of sway bar in the rear.

Far as the front end you have to measure everything, is the one side closer to the frame or something? Fix it. You need to toe at zero or maybe out just a hair to have calm high speed steering. Toe in will give it more of a darty feel, sensitive. No toe or toe out a hair will calm it down. If the front arms angle down and toe is way off, it will make the front go up/down if you go forward back on pavement. Its the tires pushing towards or away from each other, the toe. If the arms are flat the tires just scrub. Yeah I'd love to have a jakes long travel or strech front. I may investigate a quad front though and get the brakes with it.

Cool. Thanks guys. I found a great deal on Jakes 6" for G8 with one of our sponsors. I'll order as soon as the cash comes in! Also, I am positive my major sway is coming from these 400ex shocks. I beleive they are just too tall, with too much spring to them. I'll be going back to the stock shocks in back until I can come up with something else.

Stock shocks with extensions for the lift.

I think like 1 1/4" square tubing with two tabs welded to one end.
Just moves the mounting point down on the top of the coilover.

I put angles on mine to adjust the shocks and steady it, and used 1.25 bar, but about same thing.
