yamaha g9 quits after a while
hey guys i was wondering if any of you have any suggestions on this one...
i've got a G9 with a 4'' lift, tires, lights ect, but am having some engine trouble, after you warm it up with a little choke, it runs great for about 4 min before it startes to die, like it's running out of gas. i've replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, all cracked air hoses to the pump, new spark plug, and the gas tank well vented, and i'm stumped.... HELP! |

Re: yamaha g9 quits after a while
Check to see if the spark plug is firing when the cart quits. Might have a bad igniter they will go bad and work while cart is cold then quit once cart is hot.

Try cleaning the carb, inside.

Re: yamaha g9 quits after a while
Pull the bowl off the bottom of the carb and spray it out really good: 10mm bolt (watch the little gasket on the bolt and the very small rubber seal around the top of the bowl). Then spray out the rest of the carb.

Re: yamaha g9 quits after a while
Yamaha's are very picky when it comes to fuel lines. They should be 1/4 and 5/16.

Re: yamaha g9 quits after a while
Graig Tn was actually refering to the "TCI" or "ignitor box", not the coil. Many times I've seen cars that run till "hot", then seems a 'solder joint" on the tci/ignitor printed circuit board loses connection and the engine will still turn over, but will not have spark, then when cooled down...the solder connection "flows" into contact and spark. I would suggest a "dynamic spark tester", (plugs onto the spark plug and into the cap and has a window to see spark) when the car stops fireing you can see if spark is lost. Sounds like the TCI in your original post. Good luck Dave
