![]() I got this 1989 GXT-800 that looks like it belongs in a Mad Max movie for free but it starts and seems to run great. One of the bigger problems though is that when you put your foot to start the cart it goes to full throttle like its either all the way or nothing like an on/off button. I have no idea how the drive works in this thing but shouldn't there be something like half speed/throttle? where should I start to look?
thanks Chris |

![]() I'd start by checking the throttle body on the carb to make sure it opens and closes smoothly. It should have a linkage going from the governor to the throttle, if this is adjusted incorrectly it can hold the throttle open.
Also, if the oil injection has been removed and the hole on the intake tube after the carb is not plugged, it will cause issues. |

![]() Great advice above;
If I may add one thing, It could be a broken throttle cable. When they break on these things the spring loaded throttle lever on the carb goes to wfo. The good news; sounds like it's a screamer when ya floor it lol. |
