PDS erratic throttle
I am trying to troubleshoot a throttle issue with a EZGO which I believe is a PDS. It has tow/run switch but has a F/R like I have never seen on an EZGO which is one unit behind the lever you move with your hand which has 2 micro switches on the sides. Anyway from a stop when you press the gas pedal down all the way the cart goes full speed however when you let off the pedal and push it down again it goes very slow. So basically it is either full speed or slow no in between. Im not sure how the controller gets the throttle signal on these carts because I am more familar with CC. So I tried checking for ohms at the ITS between white and black wires in pedal box but nothing happened. On volts setting there was 12V and change there but I didnt have a jack to get the wheels off the ground at the time to check with pedal down. If anyone can point me in the right direction for how to troubleshoot the throttle I would appreciate it.

Re: PDS erratic throttle
Does the throttle signal work off ohms or volts? What is the parameter it should be in from pedal up to pedal down?

Re: PDS erratic throttle
Throttle signal sending device is an induction coil set up located under the floor behind the go pedal. The device will act crazy if water is present.
The signal originates from the controller, is modified by the coil, and returned to the control. The amount of modification to the original signal (it's voltage) indicates the pedal position and the amount of current the control should let pass. We need to know what control you are asking about to give the voltage values. |

As mentioned, we need to know which drive system you have to answer how many volts you should measure. The F/R switch you described was use on later year DCS carts and PDS cart made in early 2000. If you can see the end of motor not attached to the differential, look for a cable coming out of the center of the end cap. If there is a cable, it is a PDS, if no cable it is a DCS. You can also remove environmental cover and look at controller. If it has a 10-pin connector on top, it is a DCS. If it have four cable and possibly a jumper plug, plugged into the front of it, it is a PDS. If you can find the serial number/ plug it into this website: https://shop.ezgo.com/customer-service/FAQ-Model-SerialNumber.html and it should tell you the year, body style and drive system type. |

Re: PDS erratic throttle
JB thanks for that info...the website tells me its a 96 DCS model. If you could give me the lowdown on how to troubleshoot that throttle system I would appreciate it. Thanks

Re: PDS erratic throttle
I guess we are to assume you are asking about the stock curtis control? See attached.
