It won't run "right" without the carb hooked up. But, it sounds like you may need to run a bypass setup, since the pump is putting out too much pressure. Maybe start your own thread on it, to keep it less confusing ;) |

![]() Update on cart, I dropped it off with the guy I bought it from, picked it up a week later, he said I had gas in bottom of motor, and he put a shut off in the gas line? I've drove it twice since without having to drag it home, he also said to use 4oz per gallon vs 1.5 of oil. Nice guy, not really sure what is going on, gas was still coming out of vent? And honestly, that's the way it's going to stay, it's running fine, although top speed is a little slower, probably from added oil?. I've had isues with carbs and small engines before, but I just don't get this one? Lol, thanks for all of your help, im sure I'll post again after it warms up , so, as of now it's running, thanks to all..

![]() 4 ounces per gallon? I would run from that guy.
You still have the wrong fuel pump on there. |

![]() Yeah, 1oz/Gal is factory spec, 4oz/gal is actually a touch over what is called for during the break-in period of a brand new motor ... And with too big of a fuel pump all You're going to do is continue to get gas everywhere, leaking out the vent, going into the engine and destroying it, etc ...

![]() 4oz per gallon and you will be dealing with a plugged muffler sooner or later.

![]() Ok I'll add a half gallon of fresh fuel or so to tank to thin out mix, I'm still confused on why some think this is the wrong fuel pump? I have the 3pg engine, no other style is show in my year 89?, he showed me where he was getting his mix ratio from, the oil he used is "klotz" on the back of label it has the ratios, but I agree that 4oz is a bit much, if someone can get me a part number of actual pump that is needed, I'll buy it, thanks guys, didn't realize how much can go wrong underneath that old vinyl seat!
Happy new year!!!!! |

![]() Forget the year. You need a 3 pg with remote air.

![]() Thanks just bought it, what's remote air?? And how do you no if your cart has enough oil? Or not enough oil? Before fouling a plug or burning up engine? I will let you no when that new pump comes in, that's weird there's no listing for that pump with my year 89? I hope this helps, can't hurt..

![]() You know that you have the right amount of oil by premixing 1 ounce of oil for every gallon of gas in a can, and then dump it into the cart. You shouldn't be guessing how much is in there. Four ounces of oil would treat 4 gallons of gas.
Remote air is the hose coming off the engine, and driving the pump that is mounted remotely. Direct air is the pump mounted directly to the hole in the engine. |

![]() Try adjusting the float in the carburetor to shut the fuel off until it needs more, otherwise the pump was just going to pressurize the Jets and over supply the fuel.
