Default Intermittent Start

Hello

My golf buddy, Larry, has a 2003 EZ-GO that has a strange problem. Sometimes while standing, it will not go forward or backwards until physically nudged by moving it a little either forward or backwards. This has been going on a month or so, but is getting more frequent and he fears his wife may get stuck somewhere without knowing to physically push it a little.

Anybody have an idea of what may be wrong? A dealer has already wasted money replacing the solenoid without remedy. I searched the forum and found nothing related, although maybe I did not use the right search terms.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like it could be brushes in the motor to me.

When it won't move, does the solenoid click?

If it doesn't, the problem is in the solenoid activation circuit. (4 switches and the solenoid coil connected in series)

If it does, the problem is in the high-current circuit. (Motor, F/R switch, solenoid contacts, controller and 13 cables.)

I agree with Yamahaman, sounds like it might be brushes.
