1988 EZGO over heating or vapor lock
I have a 1988 Ez go with a 2pg robin. Just rebuilt the lower and upper end. Also installed a new carb and fuel pump. New seals bearings everything. It will run fine but when u stop and then start again it pulls the starter down then doesn't move. Then let off it will turn over and start. It runs great power and everything. Pulled the plug and it's a little white like it's running lean. What should I do. It's a new carb. Should I take it back off and blow it out? Maybe something got in it during shipping or installation. Please help

Start by making sure everything is sealed after the carb, then check to make sure the bottom end of your case is completely sealed...a leak in either of these places would cause you to go way lean

Re: 1988 EZGO over heating or vapor lock
I am thinking its maybe the starter generator. It gets really hot and has troubles turning the motor over. I am gonna make sure it's hooked up right and check all my grounds. Any more ideas would be great

Load test your battery, and then see if the charging system is working.

Re: 1988 EZGO over heating or vapor lock
Battery bad and loose connection on starter generator. Didn't notice it before on old motor due to hardly any compression. It would just spin the motor good. Now on Fresh overhaul and great compression didn't have enough amps to roll it over on up stroke. And the smoke from starter generator was from loose connection and burning the rubber cap.
Also how can u tell if it's running lean and not over heating the motor. I think it's running hot by feel l. Someone said it's running lean but if I barely pull choke it loads up and dies. Take choke off it starts back up. Just being little gun shy with new rebuilt motor. And new to carts. |
