Performance Exhaust
My factory exhaust is gone on my 86 G1-AM. The person I bought it from just added some pipe and silencer from a old 4 stroke motorcycle. It looks like poo. I'm thinking since this thing is 215cc (right?) that a 125 cc or 250 cc 2 stroke dirt bike pipe with silencer may work better. Something that has an expansion chamber type pipe.
What do you think? |

Re: Performance Exhaust
Try BBQing your muffler first the dirtbike pipe will add some noise.

I now have a Banshee (350cc divided by 2 cylinders) expansion chamber and a 1.5" pipe from the chamber out to the back. It is EXTREMELY loud. Unbelievable that this little 1 lunger 215cc can make this much noise! It runs good and you can tell when it "gets on the pipe" I want to make the tailpipe shorter for more bottom end, then add a big glasspack of sorts to take some of the edge of the loudness down. |

Re: Performance Exhaust
if it is a twostoke dirtbike muffler, it will be rebuildabe, drill out the poprivets and repack the silencer, it will add to the lower end,

Re: Performance Exhaust
Usually you can make the header off the motor longer to lower what rpm it works at. I'd try to find one of the dirt bike silencers rated for spark arresting, they would be quieter. Here they used to have glass pack muffler but it reversed inside and still looked like a cherry bomb. It was smaller and quiet, not sure they have them anymore.
