Default 79 Ezgo needs Flywheel puller (Where do I find one??)

Hi guys, this is my first post and I have to admit I am pretty new to the golf cart scene. We picked up an old 79 Ezgo and we are not getting a spark. We installed a new spark plug and tested the ignition coil. Both are working fine. But we still have no spark. Our next guess would be to replace the points but we need a flywheel puller to get to them.

I have looked everywhere for a flywheel puller but I have had no luck. Is the clutch puller the same? Thanks for any help in advance!!! :-)

Use a two arm steering wheel puller.. You can pick one up at autozone or advance auto parts.

You'll also need a couple of long M6 bolts and some washers.

They will attach the puller to your flywheel. The bolts that come with the kit are too big.

No problem. Be sure to soak that thing with some PB Blaster or WD40 for a while before you pull it. Also, giving the center bolt of the puller a few taps with a mallet while its under pressure seems to help loosen it up. Good luck!

Well I just ran to auto zone and picked up the puller. The main bolt appears to be too large. Am I missing something? Also the m6 bolts did not fit either. Any other suggestions?

hogie,
The main bolt doesn't screw into anything. It just pushes against the end of your crank shaft. The two M6 bolts thread into 2 of the 4 screw holes where the little cover was attached.

Check out the first couple of posts of this page to see what I mean:

Ok that makes sense. The fly wheel we have only has two screw holes and the m6 bolts we bought do not fit them; the bolts are just a little too big. any suggestions? Thanks again for your help!
