Default lifted 08 drive 48v, not moving if cart semi-stuck

I have an 08 drive, six inch lift kit (jakes), new batteries, speed upgrade, etc. Problem is if my cart is semi-stuck say front tires in a deep rut the cart will not click on and pull out, or if i have a tire stuck over a big stump the cart will not engage or pull it self out. It just does nothing. I can drive miles around the neighborhood, up hills, 19mph, three people no problem. Is this some kind of safety thing??

thats a new one for me. That i know of there is no safety devise like you are thinking.

even if you flip the run/tow switch to tow for a minute and then flip back it still wont engage?

Thanks, yea and if you change forward reverse a few times it clicks back on and will go. Don't know if it's a time thing or moving the switch.
