Melted battery post

I installed a speed booster from e bay .
my cart is an ezgo 2001 w/ a series motor.
The speed booster is just a solenoid connected to a foot button , the solenoids high volt side jumps s1 and s2 treminals.

The battery post that I wired the triger wire to melted off.

Any one know what is wrong?

You either:

1. Didn't tighten the connection
2. Tightened a crappy connection
3. Used a poor terminal
4. Used a poor crimp
5. Used a poor wire
6. All of the above

Battery terminals melt from overheating. The heat is generated by a poor connection.

I'm not sure but I know one thing that WILL go wrong in the future. The "speed booster" you purchased from that guy on Ebay is a shunt. Without going into too much detail your motor will eventually quit. The more you use it the faster it will quit. Shunts are not a real good way to gain speed on a golf cart motor.

i would get that thing off of there and be glad it just melted a battery post which can be repaired.........they can cause some costly damage................................

Thanks for the input . I removed the gizmo.
I tapped the battery and every thing works ok.
What is the proper way to go faster? I don't want to spend a thousand dollars. Im not cheap butt I am gas poor.

you can gain some speed by just changing all your 6 gage cables to 4 gage or even 2 gage but you have to do all cables, batts, motor, controller, F&R .......everything with a 6 gage cable.........they do make sets premade already or you can do it yourself..........and if you onle use the cart on flatland a highspeed motor will get you to 21 to 22 mph.......................motor and shipping is under 400.00 if you go the cable route which will take you from 12 to approx 15 to 16 mph a pre made set is 99.00 and i,m not sure how much if you buy all the stuff and do it yourself........remember high speed motor ok on flatland if you plan on hills and or off roading or being rough on cart than you,ll have to do controller................................

Thanks Tom I will look at the wiring upgrade and motor
any suggestions or specs on the motor.
I am street legal and need 20-25 mph.
