Default Speed controller

hello all.
i have an older g9 cart thats starting to lag a bit. i think its perhaps the speed controller. now reverse works great. (full speed reverse)
rather than spend $500 on a speed controller, could i reverse the connections on the speed controller and utilize the other half for my forward driving???
i hope this makes sense to ya'll. thanks for any help.

Your controller wont cause that problem. Most likely its the F/R contacts or motor brushes. Check your throttle pot too while your at it....I believe the white and green wires for a range from 0 to 2K.

plz excuse my ignorance.....what is a throttle pot? i have how ever tken the motor off and cleaned the carbon residue from it. to my un-expert eyes the brushes looked ok, but i could be wrong. the cart is a g8. so its got a good bit of use on it. if its brushes....where would i be able to locate a brush set if something like that is even available?? thanks
