Default G 1 starting issue

the rev. solenoid burned out so i replaced both of them it run perfect in forward before i replaced them, now when i try to start it it seems to be kicking back into the starter in both directions like its out of time, but it run so good before what do i look for

after market solenoids can be a PITA from my understating. You have to do your homework(google box) on solenoid replacement. Find good used solenoids instead of after marker IMO.Follow the service manual and check all wires. Check for corrosion as it is a problem for these old yamahas. The key switch can go bad do some weird things also.

If you have the round solenoids you can actually split them and clean the contacts they do get burned up a little and create a poor connection that may be what's wrong with your old ones

If your solenoids have the metal body with the black caps on the ends, Be very careful with this, the end with the small wires has to have the small wires un soldered before cap removal, or permanent damage will occur. Besides, cleaning damaged terminals usually results in a short term fix at best.
