Installation of Lithium pack
I've purchased this battery
https://bigbattery.com/products/36v-...o4-116ah-5kwh/ The dimensions are 10.25 x 29.75 x 11 and the dimensions of the front part of the standard battery tray are 10.25 w x 22 long so it looks like it is not a direct fit. Has anyone installed one of these yet and if so how did you modify the battery tray to accomodate the larger size of the lithium pack? |

Re: Installation of Lithium pack
I havent heard much from BigBattery. Someone recently found a youtube vid comparing BigBattery and two others. Should be a nice upgrade for a 36v cart.

Re: Installation of Lithium pack
Found this today ( I have ordered the same set up as you ) video is for the 48 volt version but the set up is should be the same, and the poster provided links to amazon where he got everything. Very clean and well done set up IMHO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlD9mATCh5c

Re: Installation of Lithium pack
I installed the new battery pack about a month ago. This pack is larger than three lead acid batteries so had to put a 2" x 12" wood cut down to 10" x 21" to fit in the old battery tray and then placed the big battery. also had to add 2 x 4 pieces to hold it in place. You do have to removed the wheels and front support so that the bottom is flat. Used some left over straps to make a hold down for the battery and charger. All connections made with ease and the cart seems to run fine, in fact runs fast because the voltage is higher than 6 lead acid bats.
It has quit twice, both because of low battery voltage. When this happens the breaker on the battery pack trips. Both occasions were because of faulty charging. One was a bad extension cord so no charge and the other was plugged into dead outlet (breaker had tripped from another problem) Once these issues were solved have had no problems. A few pics of the installation |

Re: Installation of Lithium pack
Nice job switching over. The higher V and lower weight really do make a big difference.
These newer lithium kits are making it easier and easier to switch too. I can't wait for the solid state lithium cells to come to market. That'll be a game changer in the next few years! |
