Well I’ll be damned! I guess I’ll cook her! Buggiesunlimited has rings for $24ish. Sounds pretty fair to me. Got a dummied down way to take the head off, or is there a thread y’all can point me to with the process? Thanks a ton!

ALAS You have to pull the primary clutch and side cover off. A whole lot easier with the engine out of the cart.

Do not attempt to remove piston with engine in cart, too many things to go wrong. The 30 minutes it takes to remove the engine is worth it for a successful project. Too many small details to go wrong, like dirt getting in, lifters not going into original location (because they both fell out at the same time), Troubles with rod reinstallation, you get the idea.

The oil ring goes bad is the common reason 4 stroke yamaha start smoking. The compression rings are still good they run ok but smoke. A 4 stroke should burn oil out of the muffler in a matter of minutes.

It is pretty easy to get the engines out of the cart, I've had my clone out like 4 times now its a 15min deal.
