Default 1999 G16 transmission leaking

I just got my first cart and trying to get it leak free. It seems to be leaking then slinging transmission/diff fluid out where the primary sheave attaches to the transmission shaft. what is that part and how do I replace it??

TIA

I believe its the secondary clutch. And that part is called the input shaft. Look at the sticky section above. There is a sticky that will help you identify parts with an exploded view.

Sounds like the shaft seal is bad, but hope the bearings are still good.

Good luck!

can the seal be replaced without taking the tail case off of the transaxle?

Yes, but you will need to disassemble the secondary. Like Mike said, check the input shaft for any play, you could have a bad bearing.

once I get the secondary off, when you say play, should it be a noticeable wobble/in/out movement? IF it is bad, i would then have to take the tail case off and the bearing is just on the shaft like a wheel bearing?

Thanks,

Jeff

yes, if the shaft moves in or out or up and down. There might be very slight movement in and out ( I haven't tried to move mine), but up and down is got to be pretty snug. Never had one apart, but I bet the bearings slide off. Don't forget a new gasket. And I'd take out all the governer fly weight parts while your at it.

good luck! Let us know!
