85 Marathon gas tank capacity
Hello all,
Anyone out there know the gas tank capacity of a 85 EZ-Go Marathon? I just took the oil pump off and am going to mixed gas, but need to know how big the tank is to mix it somewhat accurately as there is already some gas in the tank and dont feel like dumping the tank again. Thanks |

Re: 85 Marathon gas tank capacity
I'm thinking it's close to 5 gallons.
When mine was down in the 1/4 full range, it was 4 gallons to get it back to full. Also, I've not worried too too much about being exact with the oil. Put in roughly 4 oz (maybe just a hair more) then in with the gas. Would also suggest about 1/4 can of seafoam with each fill. So far, it's kept my carb clean, plus it stabilizes the fuel making it hard for the ethanol to absorb water. |

Re: 85 Marathon gas tank capacity
i have an 87 and i believe its 5 gallons also. youd better just drain the tank and mix oil and gas in seperate container before pouring in your cart otherwise you run the risk of it not mixing up well enough and damaging your piston. just my $.02 but I'd be scared of a whoops happening.

Re: 85 Marathon gas tank capacity
For me to avoid this, I go to my local gas station, put the oil in first, then fill directly (vs. jerry can) using the hard flow from the pump. I do it in short bursts, and also go around the inside of the tank with the nozzle while the level is low to ensure it is getting mixed.
If this wasn't an option and you needed to use a container for gas, then I would also premix like felber. |

I fill a 5 gal can only to 4.5 And when I drained my cart tank and refilled it. It took all 4.5 and could have had just a bit more. My guess is 5 gal. Mark |

Re: 85 Marathon gas tank capacity
ez-go recommends 40/1 for the first tank after a rebuild and 128/1 from then on. 50/1 will foul your plug after awhile.
