Re: Need Help with Higher Speed Gears for 2011 RXV
The dealer's mechanic said he would "explain how to adjust the governor" if the new 10.5:1 gears weren't enough. I figure the FS400 redlines about 4000RPM? I really don't want to twist it that hard all the time.
I figured the 8:1 gears would get me ~25MPH without going to full throttle against a cranked up governor and wringing the guts out of the engine. I like your suggestion to wait on an aftermarket 8:1 gearset. Hopefully someone will offer it soon! |

Re: Need Help with Higher Speed Gears for 2011 RXV
You won't be redlining the engine at 30 mph. keep in mind a cart has a cvt transmission, so the cart can work at the same rpm going 25 mph than it would going 19 (stock setting) so if all you want is 25 mph don't even bother with gears, you would put no extra strain on the engine at all. Keep in mind 11.42 is already an upgrade, back when the carts used the scooby engine, the ratio was 13.32. I have heard those go ~28mph, so this would top ~35mph. meaning 30 mph could be achieved without redlining.
