Re: HELP!! What Year Is This Rare Yamaha Cart?
That is a Yamaha G15 or Turf Joy. It has a G16 engine. Made in Japan for the Japanese market. But it has found its way into the Asian market specially in the Philippines where golfers are allowed to bring their carts to the golf course.
A smaller model called G10 is also available with a 250 cc engine, I believe. Last edited by worqhors; 10-19-2012 at 09:46 AM.. Reason: additional info |

Sorry I took so long to get back to you guys but I have been working on the cart and also it has taken me many hours to identify it. To all of you I want to thank you so much for working hard to try to identify this. All of you guys are really great and it means a lot to me. Now for the couple of comments I read that people were glad that they did not bid on this cart, well, all I can say is Thank you! I am really glad that you did not bid either, cause that means I got the cart really cheap because of this and I really love the cart. I wanted something really different and I found it. The way I look at is, if it was easy then it would not be a challenge to me and would be really boring. This is going to be somewhat of a challenge (I have had much, much worse) but boy, the self gratification as I accomplish things will be a wonderful feeling. All a person needs is a plan. Now to the good stuff. I had to finally search on Japanese sites that were written in Japanese and use the Google translator to read the info. The cart has turned out to be a G17A Turf Liner and mine was mfg in 2002. (Dave you were really close to being right on track and I want to thank you for the time you spent on this.) The G17A was made from 1996 thru 2004. In 2005 a very similar model with a different roof was made called the G30 and is currently being sold. Being mfg in 2002 ( the year the G22 came out is why it had similarities of the G22 such as the rack & pinion steering. ( yes, Mike I DO think a lift kit for a G22 will work. It "may" have to be slightly modified but I bet it will work.) It was also at the end of the run for the G16 so that is why it is similar to the G16 and uses the G16 301 engine. I am not sure if the clutch is G16 or G22 yet. Here is a link for some pics in case other topics come up again on Japanese carts: Go to http://www.ympc.co.jp/golfcar/history/ - choose the fist link (Golf Car History) then and click on translate this page. What I found really interesting is that some of us commented on a G17A early production model back in 2009 and May of this year and earlier on this forum. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...rchased-2.html http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...ion-model.html http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...-guidance.html http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...-guidance.html http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...arts-g17a.html Whew!! That was a lot. I have to go to work now guys and will check in later Have a good day! moe |

Re: HELP!! What Year Is This Rare Yamaha Cart?
I really like it a lot Moe....its different looking and very cool. 4 forward facing seats and room in the back for a big cooler. ( I'm big on coolers )
So you won this off eBay? If you don't me asking (pm if you'd like) what did it cost you with shipping? Did it come.from overseas? Again, nice score. |
