Question How do I know it's a 295 cc head

Hi all, I have a 2003 & a 2001 petrol Ezgo workhorse with the 350 cc engine. I recently purchased a 295 cc head to swap out with my 350 cc to give it better compression (baised on doing some reading up on this lovely site)

Before I start pulling things apart is there a way I can know for sure that I have a 295 cc head and not another 350 cc one

Both my carts ar projects and not running at the moment, I will put some photos up when I can.

Thanks a heap in advance.

Peter.

Side by side the difference is obvious... the compression chamber on the 350 is about 3/4 inch deep and the 295 is about a 3/8ths inch deep.... post a pic of the head you bought

I strongly recommend having hardened seats and valves installed in the head if they haven't been already. Good time to go with the better springs and cam too.

I'd also recommend an oil cooler.

You'll love the power it makes though.

A shorter belt and an MSD ignition is a little fun too

The 350 head in comparison to the 295 has a more open space in the valve chamber. The 295 will have a ridge on it that closes in the valve chamber that stops just before the valves. I have this setup on my cart with stock valves, springs and cam and I haven't had any problems. I do have the MSD ign on mine to stop the rev. limiter on the takeoff but other than that I didn't pile a whole lot of money into it, I didn't see where it needed it and my cart is holding up fine.

Hi Guys thanks for the advise I have taken the suggestion and put up some photos with a golf ball next to it to give it some scale.

I am still none the wiser and I did not want to pull the other head off only to find I have the same head to put back on.

Thanks

Peter.

Thanks guys any pictures of a 295 cc head would be great!

I bought this on ebay US, the guy told me it was off a 295 so I snapped it up. I paid $65 for it plus another $60 more in freight to get it to Australia.

Bummer!
