Default 1996 EZGO electrical

I was driving my EZGO today killing ant piles and stuff, (slow) then I started smelling wire insulation burning, I put it back on the porch, pulled off the seat and all 3 wires underneath the run/tow cover were hot, the one jumper from the (Ford looking) solenoid to the above landing was **** HOT. Can you help me out here fellas? Do I need to chase every wire down on this contraption, or what? I wasn't loading the cart at all, (towing logs etc.) just slow speed ant killing.

Harry

Thumbs up Re: 1996 EZGO electrical

I would check all connections and wires if I were you.I had a problem similar to what you had when I first got my 95 EZGO.Whoever wired mine before I bought it didn't know much about wiring. It had 4 gauge wire mixed with smaller gauge wire.I had some loose connections also.I first noticed mine getting hot when I was creeping around slow. It's better to take the time to check everything than to have an electrical meltdown, and have to push it to the porch!Good Luck!

Yes, I will order a 4 ga. wire kit, change them all out and be done with it.

Thanks

Welcome "hoggjaww".............

Don't forget to disconnect the main Positive and main Negative before working on the electrical system and reconnect them last.
